Those warm summer days make us want to live forever... and be hotties in our bathing suits. Stronger muscles help with both of those, but aerobics play a role too.
Stanford University scientists tracked runners and non-runners for 21 years. They found that people who ran 5 hours per week lived longer and functioned better mentally and physically. Runners had less heart disease, but they also had less cancer, infections and neurologic diseases. Pushing ‘til you’re breathless seems to give back a long life health edge.
Scientists at UNC Chapel Hill found that aerobics increased brain blood flow, which boosted brain power in older adults. By using sophisticated MRI’s, the researchers found that blood vessels in physically active adults more closely resembled those of younger people. There were more of them, and they were less twisted. Life has enough twists and turns. Aerobics will keep them out of your blood vessels, so you can stay clear headed, and keep yourself thinking and feeling younger.
You may not live forever, but if you slip on those running shoes; sip on some whey protein; and get a little breathless, you’ll feel more of life’s possibilities as you’re proudly slinking around in your favorite bathing suit.
