Boost Your Performance

We all know sleep’s call. We nod off in a chair; curl up on a couch or on the beach; slip between fresh sheets; or nestle quietly into our comfy quilts. Sometimes there’s nothing better than that gentle call of the zzzz’s, but when there’s too much work or excitement to let it all go, sleeping is the last thing on our ‘to -do’ list. It doesn’t matter how crabby we feel when we don’t get enough, sleeping can sometimes seem like such a time waster.

Recent studies, out of Stanford University, grant new star status to sleep. We’ve known that athletes experience spikes in colds and flu during demanding competitions or intense training. These upper respiratory infections come mostly from schedule stress and lack of sleep surrounding extreme effort. Common sense tells us that plenty of sleep would stop this kind of immuno strain.

What’s more surprising is that the Stanford research also showed that getting lots of sleep boosts athletic performance. Those athletes who increased nightly sleep, and slept away any built up deprivation improved by as much as 30% in rigorous athletic performance tests.

A good night’s sleep is the new power nap. Sipping on an All the Whey protein shake is the new power lunch. Both will improve athletic performance. One will give you that easy performance edge you’ve dreamed about, the other will give you flavor, health, and muscle power in a yummy sip.

Sweet dreams. Sweet sip of power. Sweet.
